OUR INSTRUCTORS
You wouldn't send your child to an unqualified teacher; why trust one to teach you and your dog? Always ask about an instructor's experience and continuing education. SDTC's trainers have years of experience, have earned many obedience titles and are skilled in helping handlers learn to train their own dogs.

Nanci Alldred teaches Kindergarten Puppy Training (KPT) and Beginners. The socialization, development and early training these classes provide help owners develop a strong bond with their dog as well as a solid foundation for training. Nanci has also taught both the Rally and Manners and More classes. She is an AKC (American Kennel Club) Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) evaluator. She is owned by two goofy, loveable Labrador Retrievers who are certified therapy dogs and has also earned titles in Obedience, Rally and field work. In her spare time she volunteers for a local Labrador Retriever Rescue organization.

Barbara Doering, an AKC Obedience Judge, has served as Suburban Dog Training's Training Director. She teaches various competition classes as well as periodic Special Classes for SDTC. She has been training dogs for over two decades and has earned numerous titles including an OTCH (Obedience Trial Champion). She is affiliated with the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors, and is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer.

After many years of teaching young children, Paula found that " Positive Reinforcement" works well with children and dogs! Through the years her dogs have been rewarded with a smile and a " Happy " voice. They have earned titles in Obedience, Rally and Tracking as well as Therapy Dog titles. She now enjoys sharing her successful approach with the Confidence Building Class .

Sue Petermann has been actively involved in the sport of showing dogs since 1969 when she purchased her first golden retriever. Since then, her Sanmann Goldens have earned numerous titles in breed and obedience in both the US and Canada. As a professional handler, she showed and finished bullmastiffs, Bernese mountain dogs, Irish setters, German shorthaired pointers and Labrador retrievers. In 1996 she became an AKC licensed judge and now judges all retrievers, brittanys, German shorthaired pointers and weimeraners as well as Junior Showmanship. Under the Sanmann prefix, she currently breeds and shows golden retrievers, Norwich terriers and French bulldogs.

Kelly Peterson currently teaches the Foundation for Dog Sports class and the Rally Run-Throughs class. With her boxers she has earned titles in Obedience, Rally and IPO (Schutzhund).

Joanne Summers teaches the Beginners and Manners and More Level I classes. There will be even more about her here when she gets around to submitting her bio.

Jenn Weinik presently teaches the Manners and More classes at all three levels. She began her journey working with dogs over 20 years ago in rescue while she worked at the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Hospital's Inpatient/Outpatient Pharmacy. She fell in love with Competitive Obedience after getting her first German shepherd dog, Felix, who needed much more than exercise as an outlet for his tremendous energy. She has done many years of therapy work with her malamute at Children's Hospital and Cathedral Village. She now trains Belgian malinois with her focus being on building energy, attitude and the dog's interest, while maintaining precision. She strongly believes that training dogs is a process in which you never stop learning.

Sharon Wendelgass is our Training Director. She teaches the Intro to Competition classes as well as several competition-level classes. She is a titled competitor in regular Obedience and Agility as well as Canine Freestyle, has taught Obedience for over ten years and is a certified dog trainer (CPDT).
